After spending close to a maddening 20 hour non-stop marathon photography outing shooting the Thaipusam celebration at the Batu Caves Temple last year, this year's session with a couple of my photography buddies was a bit less strenuous.
Reaching the place before 6.00am we managed to park our car nearly a kilometre to the temple grounds. This year, I decided to concentrate my shooting near the river-side area where most devotees prepare their journey to the temple grounds and take that 272 steps up the cave.
If you plan to shoot thaipusam in Batu Caves, you should not miss dropping by the side of this river where you'll find hundreds of local and foreign photographers crowding round the small area from very early morning before sun-rise.

I SAY A LITTLE PRAYER.

Noticed this priest who was performing prayers for devotees in a tent near the river. Talked to him and he kindly obliged to come out of the tent and managed to capture one shot of him with better natural light outside.
